Livestream of Tonight’s Big Data for Social Good in Action event


Our Big Data for Social Good in Action event is here! We will be livestreaming the event, so even if you cannot join us in person, you can still tune in to learn from our speakers. We will be hearing from people who don’t just talk about the positive impact Big Data can have in the world, but have experience putting that into action.

Here is a summary of what you’ll catch if you join the livestream:

19:00 – Keynote: “What is Big Data for Social Good and why does it matter?” 

Our CEO Elena Gil will set the stage for the rest of the evening by introducing the concept of Big Data for Social Good and highlighting the potential impact it can have.

19:20 – Roundtable Discussion: “Perspectives: What are the challenges in using data for Social Impact?”

Trinidad Jiménez, Telefónica's Director of Public Affairs Global Strategy, will lead a roundtable discussion on the obstacles faced by people pioneering the use of Big Data for Social Good. She will be joined by Elena Gil, LUCA CEO, Alberto Asuero, CTO and Partner of Geographica, and Javier Carro, Data Scientist at LUCA. 

19:50 – Demos: “Disruptive Big Data for Social Good” demos from three sectors

The livestream will conclude with three demonstrations of how people are using Big Data to have an impact in a variety of ways. Juan Murillo from BBVA Data and Analytics will share about using data to track Hurricane Odil, David González, founder and CTO of Vizzuality, will highlight the use of Big Data in the Global Forest Watch project, and Nelson Leoni from UNICEF will share about how data helps UNICEF programs.
